Basel: Rhine Swimming 2019

Dear alumni

We did it! The weather forecast promised 27°, but because of the rainy and colder day before, it reached only 25°. So, it was not too hot, and the jump into the cold water wasn’t too much needed. We did it anyway.

Swimming in the Rhine, and getting out at Kaserne.

Four of us Columbians stepped gingerly into the river Rhine, because the water came only up to 19.9°. Ok, it the water was quite cold, but we let us to be drifted from the museum Tinguely to the casern. Two wives walked the distance by foot, and we met them at the casern again. Luckily the evening sun was coming up, and we warmed us in it. Warm, and dressed again, we enjoyed a glass of wine with some antipasti at the casern. Today, when I write this lines, the thermometer climbed up to 31° again. Should we have waited a few days? No, we didn’t know if this was the end of the summer, or if the heat returns once again, and we had a lot of fun together. We hope to see you again on our next event!
